Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez celebrated Tucker Carlson's bombshell ousting at Fox News, saying that it "couldn't have happened to a better guy."

Ocasio-Cortez said in a video posted to her Instagram story that she was "very glad" that Fox News on Monday cut ties with its far-right star host who she claimed is "arguably responsible" for stoking anger that led to death threats.

The congresswoman added, "Deplatforming works and it is important and there you go — good things can happen."

Still, Ocasio-Cortez said she is wary that Carlson will bounce back.

"I also kind of feel like I'm like waiting for the cutscene at the end of a Marvel movie after all the credits have rolled, and then you see like the villains like hand, re-emerge out to grip over like the end of a building or something," Ocasio-Cortez said.

Fox News announced it had parted ways with Carlson, the network's top host, on Monday. The surprise announcement came just weeks after the news organization reached a $788 million defamation settlement with Dominion Voting Systems related to misinformation spread about the company surrounding the 2020 presidential election.

Carlson and several Fox executives are also currently embroiled in a lawsuit with Carlson's former head of booking, Abby Grossberg, who alleged in March that Carlson and the executives created "a work environment that subjugates women based on vile sexist stereotypes."

Several prominent right-wing personalities, such as Glenn Beck and Matt Walsh, voiced their displeasure and shock about Carlson's firing on Twitter on Monday.

"I think that'll kill Fox," Beck said.
